Former Hofstra Wrestling Champion Gets a Hold on Heart Rate Monitor Market

Deer Park, N.Y. - September 5, 2007 - As a teenager, Lou Dionisio was obsessed with wrestling. He focused and trained on conditioning and technique until he was literally "blue in the face." Almost to a fault, he concentrated so doggedly on his passion, he needed to summon-up his herculean strengths to raise his academic levels to match his athletic prowess. And succeed he did.

The young Mr. Dionisio became the first Nassau County Wrestling Champion while in attendance at Baldwin High School, New York. He was voted Nassau County's "Most Outstanding Wrestler" and won 3rd Place in the New York State Championship competition.

Accepting a full scholarship to Hofstra University, Mr. Dionisio went on to National recognition, taking the Silver Medal in the U.S. Junior National Championships and winning an invitation to participate in the 1980 Olympic games, in the year prior to graduating with a B.S. Degree in 1981.

His lifelong interest in fitness was an obvious precursor to Mr. Dionisio's eventual entry into the Heart Rate Monitor industry. And, his focus and determination has never ceased; it has only shifted to growing his start-up business. Sports Beat, Inc., into an industry leader.

As President, Mr. Dionisio leads the third largest manufacturer / distributorship within the Heart Rate Monitor industry. After raising a quarter million dollars in a month, and paying off all debts within 6 months of opening, Mr. Dionisio seriously began his quest to be #1.

Under licensing agreements with various companies, Sports Beat manufactures and distributes ECG-accurate sports watches under the Reebok and CardioSport brands, and most recently, entered into an exclusive arrangement to produce and market a 5-item product line called Heart Rate Monitor For DUMMIES under the world-renown DUMMIES brand. This latest venture makes Sports Beat Inc. the first company to market heart rate monitors through non-traditional outlets such as mass-market retailers.

Through the 11-year growth of Sports Beat Inc., Mr. Dionisio has led the company to many new and exciting innovations. Recognizing the need for the average individual to "Exercise Smarter, Not Harder," in their quest to control weight, improve cardio-vascular conditioning and increase exercise capabilities, Mr. Dionisio has created the first "STRAPLESS" heart rate monitor in which the user simply touches 2 contact points on the watch and receives an ECG-accurate (electrocardiogram) heart rate readout on the watch face. This innovation is responsible for the fastest growing segment of the industry.

Another innovation spearheaded by Mr. Dionisio is "HYBRID" technology, which allows the use of a chest belt, if the user so desires, or direct touch, as previously described. This ensures the user greater flexibility in training to better suit their needs. Currently in the works, but not yet marketed is an "Analog-Digital" monitor watch which shows time by standard hour/minute hands, but illustrates heart rate via a bright LED numeric readout on the watch face, when the contact points are touched. This combines fashion with function and is sure to be a hit.

Prior to going out on his own and creating Sports Beat, Inc., Mr. Dionisio worked as National Sales Manager for Computer Instruments Corporation, for 10 years. Under his stewardship, CIC grew from a $400 thousand company to a $7 million industry leader. Following his tenure with CIC, in 1986 he became Vice President of Sales, US Division of Polar Electro.

His successes there included pioneering of a unique sales telemarketing program, which became the company standard throughout the world, and led to their #1 ranking in the heart rate monitor business. Company revenues grew from $6.8 million to $24 million. Mr. Dionisio still holds the unofficial world's record of "Most Heart Rate Monitors Sold."

Mr. Dionisio's vast and varied personal and professional experiences and successes, coupled with his intensity and tenacity, have created a goal-oriented, no-nonsense business leader. He has personally negotiated the worldwide licensing agreement with Reebok, the US agreement with CardioSport and the US agreement with Wiley & Son, the parent company of the For DUMMIES brand.

Mr. Dionisio, married with three children (ages 30, 26 and 4), enjoys racquetball and boating in the spare time available. His enthusiasm is contagious and his charisma... immediately obvious.
